What are the requirements to study in the Czech Republic?
Qualifications
You’ll need a certificate of graduation from a secondary school, high school diploma or equivalent to apply for a Bachelor’s degree in the Czech Republic. There may also be other entry requirements for each specific university or program, so check exactly what these are before applying.English language tests
If you want to study in English in the Czech Republic, you’ll probably be asked to prove your English language proficiency when you apply. You need to have completed a TOEFL or IELTS certification, so check with the university when you apply to see if one is preferred, and what score they want.
Czech Republic student visa
Non-EU students will need to apply for a student visa through the Czech embassy in their home country.
You should check with the embassy for more details, but the processing time is normally around three to four months.
If you’re an EU citizen, you can study in the Czech Republic without a visa providing you can demonstrate the following:
- You are studying for more than three months
- You have sufficient income or savings to support yourself during your studies
- You are enrolled at an approved or accredited institution
- You have comprehensive health insurance
You will then need to report to the Foreign Police Department nearest to your accommodation. Your accommodation provider may inform the police of your presence for you.
