I am currently studying Psychology at Lakehead and what really inspired me to choose Lakehead was LU being the number 1 Undergraduate Research University. Psychology is highly focused on research and I realized this would help me a great deal in my future goals. Needless to say, Lakehead actually did stand up to it's reputation of a number 1 research University. I was won over by the inclusivity in research. Since day 1 at LU, I was constantly encouraged via incentives and credits to participate in research and get first hand experience. Even though the research aspect of Lakehead is really good, I was even highly impressed by our professors at the Psychology Department. Every professor I have had has been extremely kind, passionate, and knowledgeable about their field of interest. The small class sizes helped me connect with the professors, which is extremely helpful during studies but also for recommendation letters during graduate studies or job hunting. All the professors I have had so far go out of their way to make sure students understand the material and clear any doubts anyone might have, on top of that they are also very good at communicating the importance of mental health. The workload depends on the electives you choose and the program you choose to study, if you do end up choosing Lakehead, do take any course of Psychology. Overall, I was really happy with the program, and would definitely recommend LU.

When I first went to university, Family Studies was never a part of the plan. However, after taking two Family Studies courses in my first year, I know I had to find space in my degree for the program. Believe it or not, I actually enjoyed doing the course readings for my Family Studies course as the textbook was not the average textbook. It was actually an interesting textbook. For both Psychology and Family Studies, there are small workload. They entail course readings and exams.

My program was just okay, there are many improvements to be made. It mixes practice with theory very well which is exactly what I was looking for. However, some courses are not challenging or practical enough which left me questioning their usefulness and purpose. Course load was sometimes in line with a master's degree for some courses, while others didn't require much which goes back to my previous comment. Tuition is too high and keeps on increasing unreasonably. Plus, there isn't enough financial supports for students.

Counseling Psychology. Fairly engaging for an online system.

Lectures were very informative. Well planned too! Course structure was detailed and resources such as library were easily available. Tution was a little high and could be looked into. Workload fluctuated and could be overwhelming if not done on everyday basis.
