Aviation degrees abroad

Aviation is a varied subject, and it can mean different things depending on the university you study at. Some programs focus on training you to become a commercial pilot, others are more concerned with the airline and airport management, or air traffic control.

If you dream of working with aircraft, an aviation degree is a great way to help you achieve your goal. Choosing to study abroad can also make you stand out, showing employers that you’re willing to step out of your comfort zone and experience new things.

By studying abroad you’ll also have more program options to choose from, so you can find the right course for you.

Aviation program structure

Aviation is available at undergraduate level, and usually takes three or four years to complete. You can choose to study a master’s degree in an aviation subject, which can take up to two years to complete.

Depending on your program, aviation degrees usually involve a number of practical classes, including work with aircraft. There will also be a mixture of group lectures, seminars, tutorials and personal study time.

The structure and content of an aviation program can be very different depending on where you choose to study. Most aviation degrees are offered in combination with another subject or focusing on a specific area, for example:

  • Aviation management
  • Aviation and logistic management
  • Aviation engineering
  • Aviation with commercial pilot training
  • Aviation and tourism
  • Aviation technology
  • Aviation with airline and airport management

Therefore the modules you’ll study will be dependent on what aviation degree you choose to study. However, some common themes you can expect to study include:
