What Hampshire College says about their program:
"Even very simple natural organisms interact with the world in very complex ways, and often exhibit the kind of adaptive behavior that might be called "intelligent." Cognitive scientists and biologists want to understand how the minds and brains of animals work, how they evolved, and what they can tell us about the human mind and brain. Animal science students can take courses in general animal behavior, animal cognition, communication, and evolution. Students also can investigate anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, ecology, and other related fields. For hands-on experiences with animals, students across the College are encouraged to spend time at the Hampshire Farm Center, interacting with sheep, goats, and llamas.
Every student picks a "Concentration" comprising a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 Areas of Study."
Please note: Hampshire College does not have minimum requirements for GPA or other academic indicators. All applications are assessed on an individual and holistic basis. However, the average (unweighted) GPA of an admitted student is 3.50/4.00.
If none of these apply, you may also request an English Proficiency waiver. Reasons for a waiver might include speaking English as a first language, living in a majority English-speaking country, etc.)
