What Stephen F. Austin State University says about their program:
"Are you interested in helping businesses profitably select, promote, present and sell apparel, accessories, cosmetics or home furnishings? Are you fascinated by what motivates consumers? As a merchandising major, you’ll learn through both theory and practice how to bring sellers and buyers together, and you’ll be ready to enter the exciting and ever-evolving world of retail and fashion.
Your studies will prepare you to compete in the 21st century. You’ll learn about all of the activities involved in providing customers with the merchandise they want to buy, when and where they want to buy it, at prices they can afford and are willing to pay. You’ll choose from courses that allow you to create business plans, learn about consumer behavior, study textiles, develop a portfolio and develop expertise in journalistic photography, computer-aided design and digital media.
You’ll cap off your academic experience with an internship – and given the international nature of merchandising, it can take you anywhere!"
SFA is devoted to helping all of students succeed. Not only can you select from a broad range of academic majors, you’ll have access to a wealth of resources and support throughout your time at the University.
