Study abroad at DePaul University

DePaul University is a private Roman Catholic university, based in Chicago, Illinois, USA. It is the largest catholic university in the US, and offers more than 300 undergraduate majors and graduate programs.

DePaul also offers the Global Gateway Program (GGP), which is designed for international students who need to enhance their English proficiency before they start their program. GGP students take a combination of academic and English courses, and you will be granted acceptance into DePaul University once you’ve successfully complete the GGP.

You’ll have access to all the University’s facilities from your first day, including the Rey Meyer Fitness and Recreation Center, which includes a swimming pool, racquetball courts, fitness classes and a gymnasium. The University also offers 350 student organizations on campus you can join, which is a great way to settle into university life and make new friends.

Life as an international student

Students from 114 different countries call DePaul home, giving the University a truly international and diverse student population.

When you start your studies at DePaul, you’ll be assigned to a Student Services Advisor who will provide you with additional help and support. Your advisor will meet with you regularly to discuss things like academic issues, tutoring support, health and wellness and involvement on campus.

You will be able to take part in a range of social and cultural programs, trips and events designed to support learning, help you make new friends and get you involved in life on campus.

Living at the University is required for all international students, as it’s a great way to fully embrace life on campus. The University Center of Chicago (UCC) is a large housing and dining complex that acts as a residence for students from four local universities, including DePaul University.

Funding

Global Gateway Program Scholarships

Undergraduates are eligible for multiple scholarships when they apply to DePaul University’s Global Gateway Program.

For level GGP (3-, 4-, or 5-Quarter)

  • Amount: US$5,000 to US$15,000 per year
  • Requirements: $9,000 for 3.0 to 3.49 GPA / $12,000 for 3.5 to 4.0 GPA. Scholarships automatically renewable for 3 years, provided student maintains good academic standing (2.0 GPA).

For Direct Admission

  • Amount: US$15,000 to US$24,000 per year
  • Requirements: Scholarships automatically renewable for 3 years, provided student maintains good academic standing (2.0 GPA).
