Bournemouth University (BU) is a modern UK university near the seaside town of Bournemouth: a vibrant and historic town known for its award-winning beaches. Across both of BU’s campuses, you can find coffee shops, lounges, music rooms, and SportBU’s health and wellness facilities.

Four faculties provide students at BU with specialist degrees in creative, professional, technological, scientific, and humanities subjects. Life as an international student

The BU community has 18,000 students, including 2,600 international students from over 120 countries. Every January the University runs workshops, lectures, and seminars specifically to support international students when they arrive at BU.

The University’s Students' Union (SUBU) is able to offer students many clubs, sports, and societies, which can help international students meet people and get involved with UK culture. SUBU also organizes excursions to other parts of the UK, so you get to see more of the country.

Fees and funding

Bournemouth University operates a price-freezing policy for all international fee-paying students. This means that you will pay the same annual fee (with the exception of your placement year) for the duration of your course at BU, allowing you to budget more effectively.

This applies to all undergraduate students who are classed as international for fee purposes and the amount you pay will be based on your first year’s tuition fee.

  • Foundation tuition (UK/EU Students): GBP£6,000 per program
  • Foundation tuition (Non-EU): GBP£9,500 per program
  • Bachelor's tuition (UK/EU Students): GBP£9,250 per year
  • Bachelor's tuition (Non-EU): GBP£15,250 per year

Graduate

  • Masters: from GBP£14,000 to £15,500 per program

Funding

Academic Excellence Scholarship

  • Requirements: Automatically awarded to all eligible applicants based on GPA
  • Undergraduate amount: GBP£2,500
  • Postgraduate amount: GBP£3,500

Music Scholarships

  • Requirements: For talented instrumentalists or vocalists
  • Amount: GBP£1,150

Sport Scholarships

  • Requirements: For talented athletes with a desire to continue developing in sporting arena as well as academically
  • Amount: GBP£5,000
