Actuarial Mathematics program structure

Bachelor’s degrees in actuarial mathematics require at least three years of study. However, most programs give you the opportunity to spend a year on placement, taking your overall course length to four years. Industry placements are an unbeatable way to build your professional skills and apply what you’ve learned so far.

If you opt to study in the US, your undergraduate degree will last for a minimum of four years. Before selecting a major in actuarial mathematics at the end of your second year, you’ll take a mixture of liberal arts classes.

It’s possible to take your education further and pursue a postgraduate qualification. Master’s degrees take one or two years to finish, while PhDs add another four to six years to your studies.

Programs combine theoretical lectures, seminars, and tutorials with practical problem classes, computer labs, and workshops. Assessment methods vary between modules, but formal exams, in-class tests, and project work will feature.
