Life as an international student

The BU community has 18,000 students, including 2,600 international students from over 120 countries. Every January the University runs workshops, lectures, and seminars specifically to support international students when they arrive at BU.

The University’s Students' Union (SUBU) is able to offer students many clubs, sports, and societies, which can help international students meet people and get involved with UK culture. SUBU also organizes excursions to other parts of the UK, so you get to see more of the country.

Fees and funding

Bournemouth University operates a price-freezing policy for all international fee-paying students. This means that you will pay the same annual fee (with the exception of your placement year) for the duration of your course at BU, allowing you to budget more effectively.

This applies to all undergraduate students who are classed as international for fee purposes and the amount you pay will be based on your first year’s tuition fee.

  • Requirements: Able to demonstrate that you are a talented musician or vocalist and that you have been involved in ensemble activity.

BU Sport Scholarship

  • Amount: from £500 to £5,000
  • Requirements: High performing sportspeople with the desire to continue to develop.

Graduate

Academic Excellence Scholarship

  • Amount: from £3,500 to £3,750 tuition fee reduction.
  • Requirements: A minimum of an upper second-class Honours degree from a UK university, or equivalent. Automatically assessed.

BU Music Scholarship

  • Amount: Worth £600
  • Requirements: Able to demonstrate that you are a talented musician or vocalist and that you have been involved in ensemble activity.

BU Sport Scholarship
