    "Visual Communication Design (graphic design) is the process of creating visual solutions for communication. Graphic designers use art and technology to design and visually communicate a message to a targeted audience. Walsh University's Visual Communication Design program works to prepare students to pursue careers in visual communication design professions. Students learn the current technology used in design and develop creative problem solving abilities for real-world projects. Upon graduation, students will have completed a design portfolio.


    The Visual Communication Design curriculum at Walsh is a pre-professional program that works to prepare our students to pursue careers in visual communication design professions. Walsh University has a dedicated Graphic Design Lab located in the newly built Marlene and Joe Toot Global Learning Center. The lab features 16 iMac computers along with space to facilitate collaboration, discussion work and problem solving for Visual Communication Design majors. "

    Admission requirements

    Undergraduate academic requirements

    • New freshmen applicants must finish secondary school in their home country by the time of enrollment to be eligible for university. A student who has previously enrolled in more than one semester of post-secondary institution after secondary school completion is required to apply as a transfer student
    • Freshmen and transfer applicants must meet the minimum requirement of a 2.0 GPA or higher on a U.S. 4.0 GPA scale. Some special programs may have higher requirements

    English proficiency waivers

    • Student is from an English speaking country
    • Attended a U.S. high school or an IB certified high school for at least 2 years and have maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher may apply as test optional
    • SAT minimum of 500 evidence based reading and writing
    • ACT minimum of 21 in English

    Academic Scholarships and Competitions Walsh rewards all incoming full-time freshmen with one academic merit scholarship based on their high school grades and test scores:

    • Deshayes Scholarship: US$20,000
    • Vanasse Scholarship: US$18,000
    • Brothers of Christian Instruction Scholarship: US$17,000
    • La Mennais Scholarship: US$16,000
    • Farrell Award: US$15,000

    Honors Competition

    • Amount: US$24,000 or a full-tuition Presidential Scholarship.
    • Requirements: Walsh University invites academically qualified international applicants to compete in the Honors Competition. The Presidential Scholarship replaces any previously-awarded institutional funds. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher and a 25 ACT / 1200 SAT or a 100 TOEFL / 7 IELTS to be considered

    International Grant

    • Amount: annually renewed international Grants of US$2,000
    • Requirements: International students who reside on campus

    Campus Service Award

    • Amount: up to US$2,000 annually
    • Requirements: Campus Service awards give all international students who reside on campus an opportunity to earn an award in exchange for working an on-campus job for 4-10 hours a week
