    "Have you enjoyed undertaking research during your degree? Are you thinking about doctoral (PhD) study or a career in a STEM business, industry or academia? If so, our postgraduate Master's in Research (MRes) course will be a great start for you.


    Its aim is to provide two key ingredients for early-career researchers – transferable research skills and expertise in your chosen subject. You'll undertake an original project with experienced supervisors, and join the day-to-day life of a research group.


    You'll develop the knowledge and skills needed to be an effective researcher, and prepare a publication-quality manuscript, grant application and conference presentation.


    You can start this course in September or January (full time only in January).

    A second-class honours degree or equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications.

    Fees and Funding

    Fee information

    • Undergraduate tuition: from £18,100 to £25,400 per year
    • Graduate tuition: from £15,000 to £17,600 per year

    Funding

    Vice Chancellor's Global Development Scholarship

    Eligible students will be able to receive the Vice Chancellor's Global Development Scholarship. This scholarship will take the form of a £1,600 fee reduction that will apply to your first year of study.

    Chancellor's Global Academic Merit Scholarship

    This scholarship is merit-based for January 2024 entry onwards, eligible applicants can be considered for the Chancellor's Global Academic Merit Scholarship. This scholarship will take the form of a £3,000 fee reduction that will apply to your first year of study.
