What Linnaeus University says about their program:
"The Peace and Development Programme provides you with comprehensive knowledge within the areas of conflict transformation, peacebuilding, development work and international development cooperation. You also gain knowledge about the connection to human rights and security issues. By combining theory with experiences from practice abroad, you will be able to work in a wide range of organizations, both in Sweden and abroad. The language of teaching is English, and the program offers cross-cultural perspectives and experiences.
The program provides you with a broad range of in-depth knowledge and analytical techniques through which you will gain an understanding of conflict and peace and development issues, both globally and locally. You will gain insights into development work from an ecological and social sustainability as well as a gender perspective. You analyze conflicts, evaluate conflict resolution strategies, compare peacebuilding strategies, and look into conflict prevention mechanisms. You also look at democratisation and political governance through different theories and approaches to development and development assistance. Throughout your studies, you gain a deeper understanding of different cultures and develop the ability to work within intercultural contexts."
The admission requirements differ depending on if you are applying for first level (bachelor's) or second level courses and programs (master's).
Be mindful that some programs may have other specific English requirements
Undergraduate and Graduate requirements
Note: For applications to Linnaeus University, no letters of recommendation are required. They will not be considered. Some master's programs may require that you send in a Statement of Purpose and CV. Also that there might be special requirements for documents from your country.
Students with citizenship not within the EU / EEA, or Switzerland, are required to pay application and tuition fees.
The tuition fees at Linnaeus University are divided into categories. Course fees are determined on an annual basis but will apply to the whole period of study for which the student has been admitted.
Each year Linnaeus University offers scholarships to outstanding students from countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland through the program 'Linnaeus University Scholarships'.
Scholarships are available for students who study master's programs as well as for students who are studying courses within the Summer Academy. It's possible to get up to 100 percent reduction of the tuition fees for a full program. Scholarships for students who study programs will not cover living costs or other costs. Scholarships for courses within the Summer Academy will, however, cover both tuition fee and living costs.
