Life as an international student

You’ll receive one-to-one support from the University’s international office throughout the entire admissions process. They can help with visas, accommodation, travel arrangements, and more.

You can also look forward to a week-long orientation program once you arrive at Hope. You’ll get to know the campus, meet teaching staff and fellow students, and even go on expeditions to explore the sights and attractions of Michigan.

You’ll find numerous clubs and activities on campus that are run by and for international students. Funding

International Student Scholarship

  • International students applying as a degree-seeking student to Hope College will automatically be considered for a merit-based scholarship of up to $25,000
  • Primary considerations to determine the amount being awarded include; quality of secondary school classes, grades/marks received in these classes, your personal statement, and a review of your activities and leadership. The scholarship offer will be given at the time of admission
  • This award is renewable for a total of four years as long as the student remains in good academic standing

Distinguished Artist Award

  • The Distinguished Artist Award (DAA) is granted to incoming first year students
  • It provides eligible students with $3,000 each year towards their college costs and is renewable for up to four years
  • The DAA is awarded to students with strong academic records and outstanding creative abilities in art, dance, music, theater and creative writing

Hope Mission Scholarship

  • Students from a missionary family may be considered for this award. It is based on academics and need
  • The average amount is $1,500
