What the University of Utah says about their program:
"Students pursuing the Substance Use Disorder Treatment Training Certificate (SUDTTC) will develop the knowledge and treatment skills necessary to treat individuals with substance use disorders, as well as the families of these individuals. The ultimate goal of the program is to enhance the quality of substance use disorder treatment and delivery of care in the state of Utah. The certificate offers proficiency in two levels of training: Substance Use Disorder Counselor (SUDC) and Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counselor (ASUDC). SUDC is available to students that have earned or are currently earning an associate degree. ASUDC is available to students that have earned or are currently earning any bachelor’s degree. The program curriculum addresses topics in counseling, the dynamics of addiction, counseling skills, neurochemistry, professional development, and ethics. The culminating experience of the program is a supervised internship, called practicum, in a local agency, allowing students to gain the hours necessary to prepare them both for professional careers in substance abuse treatment and to obtain Substance Use Disorder Counselor licensure in the state of Utah."
