"NorQuest College offers an approved and accredited two-year full-time Social Work diploma program with a multicultural focus. The program’s mission is to teach students the value of human diversity in the context of Indigenous and multicultural knowledge and practice within an anti-oppressive and ethical framework that is supportive and empowering.


Graduates are employed in government and non-governmental settings in areas such as child and youth protection, addictions counseling, family support, and other related helping disciplines. Graduates can pursue careers that deal directly and indirectly with child neglect, foster care, juvenile offenders, family conflict and individual emotional problems, and may expect to work with individuals, families, groups, and communities."

Undergraduate academic requirements

  • Secondary school leaving certificate
  • Applicants must be 18 years or older within the first term of their program. Programs with practicums will pose problems for underage applicants. If the student is underage, the applicant must validate suitability for the program and have written parental consent.

English requirements

  • IELTS: 6.5 (no band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL iBT: 84 (no band below 21)
  • PTE: 59 (no band below 56)
  • CAEL: 70 (no band below 70)
  • Duolingo: 115
  • Cambridge English Language Assessment: 180+ (no band below 165)

English waivers

  • Complete high school in Canada

    Your studies must have been in English at an approved Canadian high school with at least three consecutive years of full-time academic study and completion of Grade 12 English or its equivalent.

  • Complete a recognized post-secondary degree or diploma program in Canada

    The program must have involved at least two full years of full-time, consecutive academic study in English.

  • Complete at least three consecutive years of full-time secondary or post-secondary study in English in an ELP recognized country or in a recognized institution where the primary language of instruction is English

    These studies must include satisfactory completion of Grade 12 English or its equivalent. It cannot include English as a Second Language or Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada courses.

  • Complete NorQuest College ESL Intensive coursework that the program has identified as acceptable for meeting ELP.
  • Achieve an acceptable score on an ELP test.

Academic Excellence Scholarship for International Student in the Faculty of Arts & Sciences Awarded to an international student attending NorQuest College on a study permit. Enrolled full-time in a Faculty of Arts & Sciences career program that is a minimum of 8 months or longer and having completed at least one term.

  • Amount: CAD$2,000
  • Requirements: Academic standing of 75%/B/3.0 or higher. A personal letter from the applicant describing educational goals and career objectives.

Academic Excellence Scholarship for International Student in the Faculty of Health Studies Awarded to an international student attending NorQuest College on a study permit. Enrolled full-time in a Faculty of Health Studies career program that is a minimum of 8 months or longer and having completed at least one term.

  • Amount: CAD$2,000
  • Requirements: Academic standing of 75%/B/3.0 or higher. A personal letter from the applicant describing educational goals and career objectives.

Academic Excellence Scholarship for International Student in the Faculty of Skills and Foundational Learning Awarded to an international student attending NorQuest College on a study permit. Enrolled full-time in a Faculty of Skills and Foundational Learning career program that is a minimum of 8 months or longer and having completed at least one term.

  • Requirements: Academic standing of 75%/B/3.0 or higher. A personal letter from the applicant describing educational goals and career objectives.

Academic Excellence Scholarship for International Students in the Faculty of Business, Environment & Technology Awarded to an international student attending NorQuest College on a study permit. Enrolled full-time in a Faculty of Business, Environment & Technology career program that is a minimum of 8 months or longer and having completed at least one term.

  • Amount: CAD$2,000
  • Requirements: Academic standing of 85%/A-/3.7 or higher. A personal letter from the applicant describing educational goals and career objectives.

International Student Bursary Awarded to an international student attending NorQuest College on a study permit. Enrolled in any credit program.

  • Requirements: Financial need. Academic standing of 64%/C/2.0. A personal letter from the applicant describing educational goals and career objectives.

International Student Community Developer Award Awarded to an international student attending NorQuest College on a study permit. Enrolled in a full-time credit program.

  • Amount: CAD$1,000
  • Requirements: Demonstration of applicant’s involvement in campus activities including but not limited to volunteering, leadership, student government, student clubs and/or on campus events. A personal letter from the applicant describing how being involved in campus activities has had a positive impact on your overall campus experience as an International student at NorQuest College.

International Student Integrity Award Awarded to an international student attending NorQuest College on a study permit. Registered in a full-time career program that is a minimum of 8 months or longer.

  • Amount: CAD$1,000
  • Requirements: Demonstration of a high standard of personal conduct at the College as per the NorQuest College’s Code of Conduct Policy, consistent class attendance and participation in the 2023-24 Academic Year NorQuest International’s Jumpstart Program (four out of six sessions).
