"As part of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s College of Arts and Sciences, the Simulation Science, Games and Animation (SSGA) department’s mission is to advance knowledge through content creation, interdisciplinary research and development, and to equip students with an essential foundation in Simulation Science, Games and Animation. A diverse community of committed faculty is preparing students for excellence as future leaders in constructing interactive, immersive experiences that leverage emerging technology to improve the human experience and foster lifelong critical and design thinking skills.
The SSGA degree requires diligence in; game design, digital media, computer science, simulation, statistical modeling, spatial computing, software engineering and general education that merge into a coordinated, coherent major. The breadth and depth designated for areas of study provide a functional and whole degree experience.
The program consists of project-based production courses, where students design virtual worlds and user experiences requiring development in spatial computing and simulations using industry-standard applications and cutting-edge equipment. Example courses include Games Systems, Interactive Media, World Building, Multiplayer Systems, Game Engine Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Mixed Reality, User Interface Design, Systems Simulation and Procedural Simulation.
Graduates of this program will be ready to work in a variety of industries from gaming to virtual training environments. Examples include building computer game software for Microsoft, designing virtual reality environments for The Boeing Company or working at the Department of Defense Modeling and Simulation Office or one of its contractors."

Undergraduate academic requirements
- All applicants are required to have successfully completed a high school education to be considered for admission.
- Some programs require a minimum 3.0 GPA average or 30 IB total score

English proficiency waivers
There are some cases in which the English proficiency exam will be waived. They include:
- Students from countries where English is recognized as an official Language.
- Attended an American or International school for a minimum of two years where the primary language of instruction is English.
- Attended a U.S. high school and took mainstream English courses for two years.
- Attended secondary school for two years in a country where English is the primary language and used for all instruction.
- Attended a U.S. college or university for at least two years and took at least two university-level English courses (COM 101, Speech, Technical Report Writing, Creative Writing, etc.) and received a C or better.
- Completed an IB (International Baccalaureate) English course of one year in length.
- The student has recommendation from Embry-Riddle’s Language Institute (ERLI).
Entry requirements
Undergraduate:
- Submitting SAT or ACT scores is strongly recommended for admission, and required to be considered for a potential merit scholarship.
Postgraduate:
- Official GMAT/GRE test scores are required for admission consideration into specific programs.
- Official scores from the General GRE test with verbal, quantitative and analytical scores (preferred score above the 50% benchmark) are required for select programs.

University Merit-Based Scholarships They are awarded on the basis of academic merit as demonstrated by high-grade point average (GPA) and SAT or ACT exam scores, not financial need. International student scholarships can range from US$2,000 per year to US$12,000 per year for highly qualified students.

NCAA Division I recently passed legislation which allows for institutions to offer multi-year athletic scholarships, but athletic scholarships in Division II are currently given on a one-year renewable basis.
