"For entry to a postgraduate degree at university. Your course length is determined mainly by your English language level (UKVI IELTS score or accepted equivalent).


All students take a set of common or similar modules to gain key skills for university. If your course is longer than 2 terms, you’ll take extra modules focusing on one or more of English language, academic skills and basic subject knowledge."

Admissions requirements

Programs have the same minimum entry requirements regardless of whether they are taught or research.

Some programs may have additional entry requirements, so please check the specific programs you are interested in before submitting your application. As an international student you may need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency.

Postgraduate academic requirements

  • A UK first or second-class honours degree in a relevant subject area; or
  • An equivalent international qualification (find out whether your qualification meets our requirements by visiting our International Student page); or
  • Relevant work experience in combination with a degree below second-class honours.

If you do not meet our formal entry requirements, but still feel you can demonstrate the ability to complete the course successfully, you may still be accepted onto a course. Each application will be considered on its merits.

English requirements

  • IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall and 5.5 in all skill components
  • TOEFL iBT: 92 total and minimum skill component scores of 18 reading, 17 listening, 20 speaking and 17 writing
  • CAE: 180 overall and 160 in all skill components
  • PTE: 65 overall and 59 in all skill components
  • KITE: 475 overall and 410 in all skill components
  • LanguageCert Academic: 70 overall and 59 in all skill components
  • International ESOL B2 Communicator: High Pass overall and 33 in all skill components
  • International ESOL SELT B2: High Pass overall and 33 in all skill components
  • Trinity College London: Integrated Skills in English - ISE III (C1). Overall Pass outcome.

English proficiency waivers

  • National of or have obtained a higher education level qualification from a country on the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) list of majority English-speaking countries
  • If you have previously obtained a higher education level qualification from a UK university and have been taught and assessed in English
  • If you have been continuously employed in the UK for a minimum of five years immediately prior to the start of the course, providing you are able to supply a reference from your current employer which explicitly confirms you are able to communicate effectively in English.

Fees and funding

Funding

Cranfield Scholarships We have a limited number of scholarships available for the next intake of full-time master's students. Funding opportunities are available to recognize academic success and enable you to enrol at Cranfield University to continue your studies as a postgraduate learner.

  • Amount: Scholarships cover part of the tuition fee and the amount you can be awarded is at the discretion of the course director for the program you have applied for.
  • Requirements: In order to be considered, you need to show both aptitude and ability for the subject you have applied for. Scholarships are available for full-time master's courses.
