"First of its kind in Canada! Concordia University of Edmonton is excited to bring you a new Master’s program dedicated to the information technology sector – the Master of Science in Information Technology.


This Master’s program provides you with a well-balanced curriculum to explore, covering topics from the foundations of advanced IT through to emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and machine learning.


You will learn to distinguish and deal with complex and unpredictable professional IT environments as you develop the necessary soft skills to communicate your ideas, issues and conclusions clearly and effectively to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.


An industry internship will enhance your skills and real-world experience, and your choice of research project, from either theory and application, or cutting-edge application through collaboration with Concordia’s Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence, will afford you the opportunity to enrich your learning further, while drawing on the expertise of our highly experienced faculty and staff."

Postgraduate academic requirements

  • A four year baccalaureate degree from Concordia University of Edmonton or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Individual graduate programs may recommend applicants as qualifying/probationary students (e.g., those with three-year degrees)
  • An admission grade point average (AGPA) of 3.0 (on Concordia University of Edmonton’s 4-point scale) or equivalent on the most recent 60 credits of undergraduate (or graduate) study
  • Individual graduate programs may impose additional admission requirements

English requirements

  • TOEFL (iBT): 80
  • PBT (Paper-based test): 550
  • IELTS: 6.0 (no band below 5.5 for Undergraduate applicants;6.0 for Postgraduate program)
  • CAEL: The minimum satisfactory score is 60 (with scores of at least 50 in Listening, Reading and Speaking, and 60 or higher in Writing)
  • CAE: 175 (no band lower than 165)
  • PTE Academic: 54

English proficiency waivers

  • Applicants who have studied for three (3) full years in Canada
  • Applicants who demonstrate that they have completed the equivalent of an Alberta Grade 12 education and that English was the principal language of their education at the secondary and/or post-secondary level may be exempt from providing an English language proficiency exam score.
  • Applicants who have baccalaureate degree from a recognized college or university where English is the primary language of instruction and the principal language of the country meet the English language requirement.
  • Successful completion of Concordia University of Edmonton‘s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program EAP Tier 1 and EAP Tier 2 or EAP Tier 2 with a minimum score of C or higher

Funding

University Entrance Scholarship Program The University Entrance Scholarship program provides guaranteed renewable scholarships to high school students who present a minimum award average of 75%. Scholarships vary in value according to the applicant’s award average. Automatic consideration is given to those who apply for Fall admission by April 1st; Winter admission by August 1st.

Concordia Bursary Program International undergraduate students may also apply for bursary assistance (based on financial need) once they are attending Concordia University of Edmonton. Although international students are expected to have the funds necessary to cover tuition fees, living expenses and transportation before coming to Canada to study, there may be circumstances that arise creating financial need.

Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship This CAD$2,000 award is open to both graduate and undergraduate students and is awarded for demonstrated leadership, especially in the area of disability and/or initiative to improve the conditions and lives of all people

Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES) The Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship is a prestigious CAD$11,000 scholarship that recognizes the outstanding academic achievement and research potential of students pursuing full-time graduate studies at the master’s or doctoral level in Alberta.

Canada Graduate Scholarships Masters program A CAD$17,500 scholarship aimed to develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement.

Canada Graduate Scholarships: Doctoral program (SSHRC) A CAD$35,000 per year scholarship aimed to promote continued excellence in Canadian research by rewarding and retaining high-calibre doctoral students at Canadian institutions.
