Undergraduate academic requirements

  • Applicants to bachelor’s degree programs must have obtained a secondary school diploma equivalent to an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • Applicants are required to achieve a high overall standing in their studies and must include the appropriate program specific prerequisites depending on the degree program to which they have applied

English proficiency

Undergraduate applicants to all programs (except Nursing) require one of the following English proficiency test scores:

  • TOEFL: A minimum score of 83 (iBT) with a minimum score of 20 in Reading, Listening and Writing, and a minimum score of 22 in Speaking.
  • IELTS: A minimum overall band score of 6.5, with a minimum 6.0 in Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.
  • PTE: A minimum overall score of 58, with a minimum score of 56 in Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening.
  • CAEL/CAEL Online: A minimum overall score of 60, with no band less than 60.
  • Cambridge English Qualifications: A C1 minimum overall score of 176 with a minimum score of 169.

Applicants to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program:

  • TOEFL: Minimum overall score of 93, with a minimum score of 20 in Reading and Listening and a minimum score of 22 in Writing and Speaking.
  • IELTS: Minimum overall band score of 7, with a minimum 6.5 in Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.
  • PTE Academic: Minimum overall score of 63, with a minimum score of 60 in each section.
  • CAEL/CAEL Online: Minimum overall score of 70, with no band less than 60.

Postgraduate applicants to all programs require one of the following English proficiency test scores:

  • TOEFL: A minimum score of 93 (iBT) with a minimum score of 20 in Reading, Listening and Writing, and a minimum score of 22 in Speaking.
  • IELTS: A minimum overall band score of 6.5, with a minimum 6.0 in Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.

President's Scholarships

  • Total amount: $10,000
  • Requirements: High school annual grades/scores (GPA= 90%+) or 36-38 total score for IB

Carl Sanders Scholarship

  • Total amount: $6,000
  • Requirements: High school annual grades/scores (85%-89%) or 33-35 total score for IB

Entrance​ Scholarships Scholarship

  • Total amount: $4,000
  • Requirements: High school annual grades/scores (80%-84%) or 30-32 total score for IB

Nipissing University Graduate Scholarship (NUGS)

  • Nipissing University Graduate Scholarships (NUGS) support graduate students enrolled in a full-time graduate program. The School of Graduate Studies funds a limited number of NUGS each year. NUGS support students in research that contributes to the student's program of study and usually results in a thesis or major research paper. No application is required.
  • Value: $5,000 or $10,000
  • Eligibility: Must be registered in a full-time graduate program with an 80% average.
