"Recognized as providing the finest farriery programming in North America, Olds College of Agriculture & Technology has a fully-equipped, state-of-the art farrier lab. This one year program will train you in new techniques and products designed to serve a rapidly growing and changing equine industry.


Learn from instructors who are industry leaders with their own farriery businesses and engage in unique clinics with specialized farriers and product representatives. You will learn all of the necessary skills to be a successful Farrier or Blacksmith and experience hands-on working field trips to Warner Ranch, Ya Ha Tinda and University of Calgary Veterinary program."

Undergraduate academic requirements

Applicants to Bachelor’s degree programs must have obtained a secondary school diploma that is eligible for further academic studies in the country where it was earned.

English proficiency

Undergraduate

  • IELTS: 6, Reading 5.5, Writing 5.5, Listening 5.5, Speaking 5.5
  • TOEFL IBT: Overall score of no less than 80; with no academic section below 18
  • PTE Academic: Overall score of at least 55; with no communicative skill profile below 55
  • CAEL (online): Overall score of no less than 60; with no band below 50
  • Duolingo English Test: 110

English proficiency waivers

  • Applicants whose first language is English
  • Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate that they have completed at least three years of academic study conducted entirely in English.

Funding

International Student Excellence Award

  • Available to full-time students enrolled in their first-year of a certificate or diploma at Olds College, who have not previously studied in Canada. Awarded on the basis of a superior admission average. Awarded to a student who is attending Olds College on a Study Permit in a Business or Hospitality program.
  • Amount: $2,000

International Student Agriculture Merit Award

  • Available to full-time students enrolled in their first-year certificate, diploma, degree or applied degree program at Olds College, who have not previously studied in Canada. Awarded on the basis of superior admission average and demonstrated leadership qualities. Awarded to a citizen of Central or South America who is attending Olds College on a Study Permit. Preference will be given to students who have previous agriculture experience or an agriculture-education background.
  • Amount: $1,500

International Student Achievement Award

  • Available to full-time students enrolled in their first-year certificate, diploma, degree or applied degree program at Olds College, who have not previously studied in Canada. Awarded on the basis of a superior admission average. Awarded to a citizen of the Philippines who applied through Canada Advantage and is attending Olds College on a Study Permit. Preference will be given to students enrolled in Hospitality-related programs or the Bachelor of Digital Agriculture degree.
  • Amount: $3,000
