Students pursue these programs in a collegial and supportive environment with internationally renowned faculty dedicated to research, teaching, and publishing. Our department offers various learning and internship opportunities including a graduate seminar in composition pedagogy unique in Canada.


We publish two international literary journals (Windsor ReView and Rampike); support two in-house student journals and an international website (thesicklytaper.com); and host a vibrant series of literary readings and scholarly presentations as well as a Writer in Residence and a Resident Writing Professional."

Admissions requirements

Postgraduate academic requirements

Graduates of recognized universities may be admitted to programs leading to the Master’s degree. A student with a four-year degree or equivalent in the discipline to which s/he is seeking admission, and who has an academic standing equivalent to 70% or better in the final two years of study (full time equivalent) may be admitted to a Master’s program.

English proficiency

For applicants whose native language is not English, a satisfactory score on an English proficiency test is required.

  • TOEFL iBT: Minimum overall score of 83 (with a minimum Writing score of 20)
  • IETS: Minimum overall score of 6.5
  • Duolingo English Test: Minimum overall score of 115
  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL): Minimum overall score of 60

English proficiency waivers

Applicants are exempt from submitting an English language proficiency examination score if any one of the following conditions is true:

  • Within the past two years you have completed a university degree at a Canadian institution;
  • Within the past two years you have completed a university degree at an institution where English was the primary language of instruction
