Public health is a priority in the United States with universities, colleges, faculty, and professional groups joining forces to promote and protects the health of people and the communities where they live, learn, work and play.

International students will learn how to prevent health risk behaviors with an emphasis upon making an impact at the community or public level. Further, an international student can learn about how public health works to track disease outbreaks, prevent injuries and shed light on why some of us are more likely to suffer from poor health than others. Public health studies in the United States focus upon empowering communities and populations to address health risk behaviors. The United States is a leader in public health education throughout the globe.

Upon graduation from an accredited program in public health in the United States, a student is eligible to sit for the Certified in Public Health exam. A student who studies community and public health education, a focus within the field of public health, is eligible to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) Exam from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. Entry-level positions in public health are available in government, public health administration, health program planning, community health outreach and education, health policy, epidemiology and surveillance and global health.

    Jeremiah Olson says:

Substance abuse impacts everyone everywhere. In the US, we have a great program with amazing internship sites that prepare students for jobs in the counseling profession.

I believe that we teach the skills that would be beneficial to help with substance use disorders in any country. Many of our students obtain jobs after graduation at the department of corrections, state institutions, halfway houses, and opioid treatment programs.
