Winston-Salem, NC. It combines the vibrance of a major metropolitan area and the sophistication of fine arts with the safety of a small town.
The economics program is very demanding, but definitely worth it. The quality of the professors is very good and it opens up the door to interact with great scholars from other universities and countries.
I got a full scholarship to study my masters program in Economics. My scholar covers full tuition, medical insurance and a stipend for my work as a Graduate Assistant in the faculty where I get to do research and practice what I am studying. The program is very intense, math driven and really prepares students who want to pursue a career in policy, research or even if anyone is looking to continue on to a PHD. The core courses are Math Econ, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Econometrics. Before I start my 3rd semester I will be required to take a test on these topics. There are also elective courses where you have a wide variety of classes and professors to choose from. This semester I took Math Econ, Micro, and an elective on Advanced Austrian Economics. I really enjoyed all three of them as they allowed me to explore new topics and test my abilities. The workload is heavy, but nothing that a good disciplined structure cannot take. Specially because there are many resources available such as books on the library, tutors or even the professors to engage in conversations that will allow you to figure things out.
The coursework is very detailed it just depends on how much understanding you have of it and the more questions you ask the more answers you can get for me it was more of the process of understanding everything that took me a while I can speak English fluently and it was really hard for me to communicate with people but it is a struggle being out of your country and doing everything alone. Lectures and professors can be easily selected especially United States universities as they are very open to you selecting the professor you want as well as the classes you want and you can see the ratings of a professor not only by talking to people but also on a website called read my professor it really helps with the classes you take and to ensure that you have a professor that matches your needs as compared to a professor that may warrant something from you that you are not capable of giving. I am from a family of six people and I am the third child to go to college and it has been really hard for me financially so in order to reduce the cost I took 24 hours of classes i c l e p exams that are similar to AP exams that substitute out for a course that is mandatory for you to take as a general study as your first years in an American University is focused on general studies being a student from India are general studies is completed in our two years of academy prior to our undergraduate years. after that the next two semesters is focused on the major you select and the majors you select can range from communications to what I selected that was economics I got opportunities to go to conferences all around the city I would lived in I got to go to Atlanta mobile Charlotte as well as Birmingham on some instances I got the opportunity to experience different parts of the state meet the governor as well as the chancellor for my University being involved in so many organizations as well as honor societies.
The tuition fee at Rowan is considered reasonable. And I like how Rowan offers small classes, which enable their students to build strong relationship with the classmates, as well as the professors. Though in some classes, there are tons of courseworks, most professors at Rowan are so understanding, they would try to find any solution that works best for us.
