The Cybersecurity program at the University of North Georgia (UNG) offers a well-rounded education combining theory with practical experience. The courses start with the basics, like networking and security fundamentals, and then dive into more specialized stuff like ethical hacking and digital forensics. The professors are usually industry pros, which means you're learning from people who actually know the field. The workload can get heavy, but it’s manageable if you stay on top of things, with a good mix of lectures, labs, and projects to really help you understand the material. UNG has great resources, like labs with industry-standard tools, and you can land internships with local companies or government agencies, which is awesome for gaining real-world experience. Tuition is pretty affordable, and there are scholarships and financial aid options, plus they help you prep for certifications like CompTIA Security+ and CISSP. On top of that, you can join Cybersecurity clubs or compete in Capture The Flag (CTF) events to level up your skills. The career center also does a great job helping you find internships and jobs, setting you up for success after graduation. All in all, the program is a great way to get ready for a career in Cybersecurity while keeping it pretty practical and hands-on.

In my opinion, the program is ideal for students in computer science, electrical engineering or related fields who intend to play a leadership role in implementing and managing computer and network security systems.

Cybersecurity course is tough for me coming from a network perspective with limited exposure to programming but NYIT is aware of and understands it that is why some projects and assignments are done individually and some are in groups. The course structure is okay and fits for whatever background you came from and anyone can easily understand as the professors are all approachable and knowledgeable.
