As well as getting to grips with various theories and models, you’ll apply your knowledge to real-life case studies and scenarios.
By earning your degree abroad, you’ll develop a detailed understanding of global marketplaces and business environments. You’ll encounter new financial management techniques and network with international experts. Alongside experiencing this enormous professional growth, you’ll explore different cultures, spark new interests, and form lasting friendships.
Financial Management program structure
You can study financial management as a bachelor’s degree over a minimum of three years. Most courses are offered as a BSc, but some BA programs are available. The degree types usually cover very similar content, but you might take more quantitative classes if you study a BSc.
Most bachelor’s programs will also encourage students to undertake an industry sandwich year during their studies. Placements are an excellent way to gather experience and get a headstart in your career.
If the US is your ideal study abroad destination, you’ll probably select financial management as your undergraduate major. Most bachelor’s courses in the US require four years of study. You’ll spend the first two years working on your general education, before concentrating on finance-specific classes for the remainder of your program.
Once you’ve secured your bachelor’s degree, you can choose to pursue a postgraduate qualification. Masters programs are typically completed within 12 months, but they can take up to two years if you study part-time. A research-based PhD program can take anywhere between four and seven years to finish.
Each financial management program will be taught slightly differently, depending on where you study and the modules you choose. However, most students’ timetables will be made up of lectures, seminars, tutorials, and workshops. Assessment methods include exams, essays, written reports, presentations, research projects, and case study analyses.
The content of financial management programs will vary from university to university because teaching staff will have different interests and specialisms. Nevertheless, most institutions will give students a solid grounding in these key areas:
- Principles of financial accounting
- Economics for business
- Quantitative methods and data analysis
- Business operations and systems management
- Financial reporting
- Critical issues in finance
- Business law
- Financial markets and institutions
