The mission of the filmmaking concentration in the Theater Program at Rutgers University–Camden is to develop the skills, craft, and imagination of its students, as well as to provide them with a strong understanding of the history and techniques of film and filmmaking within a well-rounded liberal arts context. The curriculum includes courses in the areas of pre-production, production, post-production, screenwriting, directing, acting, production design, lighting, and film history, with a commitment to student-generated work on and off campus. As part of a strong, interdisciplinary Department of Visual, Media, and Performing Arts and Theater Program, filmmaking students benefit from exposure to visual art, music, new digital media perspectives, and live theater with the direction and guidance of a professionally active faculty.

A renewable scholarship covering a minimum of 50% of tuition, awarded to incoming first-year international undergraduate students at Rutgers-Camden who demonstrate interest and personal initiative in intercultural learning and exchange. Applicants must be admitted to Rutgers-Camden and submit a 500-1000 word essay or a two-to-five-minute video addressing leadership skills and intercultural engagement. It is explicitly restricted to international students, making it open only to non-domestic undergraduate applicants.
A merit-based award for nonsponsored, international undergraduate applicants on F-1 visas who self-fund their education and meet Rutgers-Camden admission requirements. First-year students receive tiered awards from $16,000 to $21,000 per year based on GPA (2.8-4.0), and the scholarship is renewable annually if the student maintains a 2.5 GPA at Rutgers-Camden. There is no separate application; all qualifying international undergraduates admitted to Rutgers-Camden are automatically considered.
A scholarship for nonsponsored, international F-1 visa students who complete an associate degree at Camden County College and transfer to Rutgers-Camden to finish a bachelor's degree. The base award is $14,000 per year, with merit bonuses raising the total to $16,000 (3.0-3.5 GPA) or $19,000 (3.51-4.0 GPA). It is renewable annually if the recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA at Rutgers-Camden, with no separate application required.
