Here are some of the questions that linguists ask: Why are there so many different languages? What do they have in common? How do children acquire language? What happens when we have problems using language, for example after a stroke? What is meaning and where do we get it from? How do we produce and comprehend sentences? What are the cultural, social and ideological processes that underlie the way we use language?

  • Minimum of passes in five subjects, two at A level (grades A-E) or equivalent, and three at GCSE level (grades A-C/4-9) or equivalent.
