AUM’s bachelor’s degree in Communication is an excellent career foundation in your quest to serve, to earn, to collaborate, and to be recognized for your accomplishments. Our graduates find careers in broadcasting, journalism, public relations, online communication, church marketing, multimedia production, documentary filmmaking, politics, business, advertising and many other fields.

You can choose from three concentrations. In the Communication Studies track, you’ll learn about media law and ethics, media writing and researching, and the purposes, functions and effects of the mass media on individuals, institutions, culture and social structure. The Journalism track allows you to dive deeper to develop your writing and editing skills, along with learning digital video production and multimedia journalism. The Public Relations track helps you understand PR programs and planning, along with developing your writing, editing news and social media, and research.

Pathway programs Even if you do not fully meet all the requirements for admission to AUM, you can take the Bridge Program. This program is designed for students who meet specific academic criteria to enroll them in courses structured to prepare them for full admission. Qualifications required:

  • 2.3 to 2.99 unweighted high school GPA, without test scores or
  • 2.00 to 2.29 unweighted high school GPA, with minimum 18 ACT or 940 SAT scores or
  • Graduated high school more than three years ago with 2.0 to 2.29 unweighted high school GPA or
  • GED score between 450 to 499

  • International Undergraduate AUM Scholarship

    Awards $2,000 per year ($1,000 for each fall and spring semester) toward out-of-state tuition for international undergraduate students at AUM. Incoming freshmen qualify with a high school GPA of 2.75 or higher, or with English proficiency scores of TOEFL iBT 68+, TOEFL ITP/PBT 520+, or IELTS 6.0+; transfer/exchange students need a 2.75+ GPA. This lower tier of the international scholarship program is open to students paying full out-of-state tuition, including international undergraduates, across the same range of undergraduate programs.

    Awards $4,000 per year ($2,000 for each fall and spring semester) toward out-of-state tuition for international undergraduate students at AUM. Incoming freshmen qualify with a high school GPA of 3.0 or higher, or with English proficiency scores of TOEFL iBT 76+, TOEFL ITP/PBT 540+, or IELTS 6.5+; transfer/exchange students need a 3.0+ GPA. It is offered explicitly to students who pay full out-of-state (international) tuition across Science, Arts, Nursing and Health Science, Education, Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and Business programs.
