Program overview

What College of Alameda says about their program:

The Liberal Arts AA Degree is designed to expose students to a wide variety of subjects and perspectives at the postsecondary level who desire a broad knowledge of the arts, humanities, natural sciences, and social sciences plus additional coursework in an “Area of Emphasis”. This area of emphasis would be an ideal choice for students planning on transferring to the California State University or University of California as the student can satisfy their general education requirements, plus focus on transferable course work that relates to majors at CSU or UC.

A $500 award offered through the Peralta Colleges Foundation's unified scholarship portal, open to students at all four Peralta Community College District institutions, including College of Alameda. It is explicitly designed for F-1 international students: eligibility requires F-1 international student status, a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher and good academic standing, a minimum of 12 completed units at Peralta, at least one remaining semester, a completed Student Education Plan, and a letter of recommendation from Peralta faculty. Funds can be put toward tuition, fees, and other education-related expenses.
