Student reviews for Abertay University
A lot of nice societies and facilities which fosters a good social life. However, the accmodations are a bit pricey.
No school bus, clubs and societies could be a bit more fleshed out.
No school bus, clubs and societies could be a bit more fleshed out.
Inexistent social life (union got closed down), multiple societies which are cool, but no real campus, some teachers are very good, others very poor. Organisation of the university is basically a mess.
We have a variety of different societies (e.g. music, law, Amnesty, Renaissance Martial Arts etc.) and sports clubs (e.g. badminton, volleyball etc.). These societies provide lots of opportunities for people to socialize with one another, regardless of year of study or course. There are different options for accommodations provided by the university, such as Parker House and Old Mill. I stayed at Parker House during my first year of study. I moved to private housing after this as I didn't feel that the accommodation suited my needs. However, student accommodation is an excellent chance to meet new people, and I had flatmates from different courses. You get a good opportunity to build friendships outside your own course. The university also has a gym, cafés and other facilities. The university library has a good collection of law books as well as materials for other courses. It has been built to suit various different people, as there are also quiet floors and silent study-areas for those who need them. The library also has the student services who gladly help you with any issue you have, whether it be your personal life, university studies or mental health. There is good communication, as students are kept up-to-date via email and the MyAbertay-app.
