Why study in Dundee?

Around one in seven of Dundee’s residents are in higher education, meaning the city has a large student population with many events and opportunities created specifically for students. Dundee has a vibrant music scene, both on campus and in the city itself.

Coming from a big city, Dundee will feel much smaller to you. There are a few clubs and bars in town, but that's about it. The only public transport is buses if you don't want to spend you money on a cab. However, the city center is in walking distance.

The first time I visited Dundee I didn't care much for the city. I was living in the amazing city of Edinburgh and was just underwhelmed of the sight. But once I attended the open day at the University of Abertay Dundee, my outlook changed. I needed to get to know the city and I was going to be spending the next 4 years of my life here. The university caught my attention in a way that made all other universities pail in comparison. That being said, I never felt unwelcome. Everyone I have talked to has been nice and accommodating. Transportation is great. It's always on time and you can catch a bus to anywhere. You can even buy a bus ticket to London for £1 if you look at the right time. There is anything and everything in the city and everything seems to be walking distance from one another. And if you can't find something you want in the city, hop on a bus and you are in a completely different area in no time flat. The university nightlife is pretty huge here. With two universities close together in a small town it makes for a quite active nightlife. The 5+clubs as well and Dundee Uni's student union there is always something happening, every night of the week.

Dundee city center has everything you need in walking distance, making it very acessible. It's a nice place with nice people, but sometimes you have to be careful, especially at night as there are strange people, mainly drug users, at that time.

Dundee is quite a small city which I found great when I moved here because it’s easy to get around. Everything is quite close together and in walking distance. Nightlife is great, there are so many deals for students which makes it great for the student budget that I am on.
