Feel relatively safe now (though I felt very unsafe here at first). Boring, not much to do, but the walks along the Tay river are lovely and the walk up to The Law is lovely too.
I have felt welcome in Dundee. There are plenty of shops in the center and if something is further away, there is most likely a bus that will take you there. Trains to locations all over Scotland and to England leave from the Dundee train station if you want to take a trip somewhere else and there is even a small airport which, to my understanding, provides domestic flights. There is plenty of nightlife in Scotland. People like going to pubs, which there are plenty, as well as nightclubs. There are always people out and about, however, I would not recommend walking out at night in the dark. That, of course, applies to any city – not just Dundee. I haven't personally found Dundee to be a particularly unsafe city to live in. There are also medical services available, e.g. the dental hospital and different GPs. From my experience, the GP try to give you a time as soon as possible to make sure you get the help that you need, whether it be physical or mental.
