With most public universities only charging between €2,000 and €3,000 per year, you can study in Valencia without breaking the bank. However, private tuition fees can reach up to €20,000 annually, so it’s best to check what you’ll be paying before you apply.
Despite being one of Spain’s largest cities, living costs in Valencia are remarkably low. A monthly budget of €500-900 should cover your living expenses, including accommodation, groceries, and transport. This makes living in Valencia much cheaper than in Madrid or Barcelona.
To study in Valencia, you’ll need to meet the entry criteria of the university and program you’re applying for. Specific requirements differ between institutions, but you should complete your secondary education to a high standard.
If you’re a non-EU student, you’ll take the Selectividad as part of the admissions process. This entrance exam tests your understanding of Spain’s history, culture, and language.
If you plan on taking an English-taught program, you might need to demonstrate your proficiency. Most Spanish universities accept the IELTS and TOEFL tests.
Once you’ve accepted a place at your chosen university, you can begin applying for a Spanish student visa. You’ll need a Visa D to legally live and study in Valencia.
Valencia is an amazing city. I think it has one of the best transport and metro system in Europe according to feedbacks from other friends. Transportation is relatively cheap specially for students. The city is also bike friendly; you find bike lanes almost everywhere. You can find anything you need and want. Amazing nightlife, well before the pandemic. you can find many music parties and activities on the beach and in the mountains. Police cars are 24/7 on the streets. I personally feel super safe all the time. However, I don't like the weather a lot. Super humid; in summer you burn and in winter you freeze. Some months you can experience both in the same day.

Valencia is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. As an Architecture students, its beautiful and complex buildings makes you go back in time. It's like a time machine. Its people are the friendliest I have ever met. Very polite yet very alive. It makes you appreciate even more their culture. I feel very safe in Valencia. I never have to worry when I am walking on the streets at a very late time. I don't have to look over my shoulders. Metro is nothing like other countries, its safe and very clean. There is always police coming in and out to make sure nothing is wrong. Buses are all over the city and ready to take wherever you wish. Before COVID, as a student, I couldn't wait to go out at night. Valencian people were made for the nightlife. It's exciting and beautiful.
Valencia is a beautiful place full of culture and history. Great location for architecture students to get inspiration from. Many shops nearby and are accommodated by many friendly people. Transport is alright in my opinion. The metro is convenient and fast however it’s always nice to travel and see what’s around via bus but I find the bus system quite difficult to understand especially if you’re new and don’t understand Spanish.
Valencia is a cheerful, medium sized city that is quite quiet. It has a lot to offer with it's beaches and beautiful parks. However when living in Moncada both the beach and the parks are around an hour from the university. The metro is very clean and always comes on time, quite cheap to use as well. Be careful when choosing an appartment as there are many apartments that have been poorly renovated. Winters are very cold as most houses lack proper insulation. Nightlife is great, there are many clubs as well as outdoor parties in the summer.
