Barcelona is one of the biggest Mediterranean economy which offer you a very reasonable work - life balance. Transport in the city is quite easy (I used bike & motorbike to go to work but it has a very effective metro network). Plus it's a very international city that you can socialize easily. However it's also notorious with pickpocketing.
