Duquesne’s Physical Therapy program offers a personal, hands-on, practical, and passionate approach to learning. Students have the unique opportunity to learn from a decorated and renowned faculty who are world leaders in their respective fields.

The learning spaces have been re-imagined with state-of the art equipment and thoughtful design that is highlighted by our brand new anatomy lab and our Physical Therapy Skills lab. Student learning extends beyond the traditional classroom with opportunity for clinical placements at facilities that are respected as the top in the country and in the world. This includes study abroad experiences during the professional phase of our program in Rome and Dublin that offer a global perspective on physical therapy practice.

Throughout the curriculum students learn to apply principles of basic and clinical sciences into the art of becoming a caring, compassionate, and skilled physical therapists who are are prepared to succeed and prosper as Doctors of Physical Therapy.

Undergraduate academic requirements

  • To be considered for admission you must have graduated from a secondary school recognized as an acceptable equivalent to a U.S. high school and you must demonstrate a record of acceptable academic success
  • In general, undergraduate applicants are expected to obtain the U.S. equivalent of a minimum 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) for most majors.
  • The Center for Global Engagement takes into the account the educational system and grading system particular to your country; therefore, you are evaluated against students from the same country
  • An initial interview is not formally required before your application, but you can request an interview with an admissions officer if you would like to articulate additional information. The Center for Global Engagement reserves the right to require an interview after examining your admissions materials if we would like more information before our admissions decision
  • Duquesne is a holistic institution that takes into consideration other skills outside of academic life, such as teamwork, leadership, initiative and compassion

  • If you have enrolled in an ESL program in the United States, you also must submit the ESL transcripts
  • At least one (1) letter of recommendation from someone who can attest to both your academic and personal strengths

Scholarships at Duquesne University

  • Libermann Scholarship

    Official page

    Duquesne University's flagship merit-based award for incoming international undergraduate students. All accepted international undergraduates are automatically considered for the Libermann Scholarship as part of the standard admission review -- no separate scholarship application is required. Awards typically range from $10,000 to $30,000 per academic year and are renewable for four years (eight semesters) of full-time undergraduate study, based on continued academic performance. The award amount is determined by the admissions/scholarship committee's review of the applicant's academic record and supporting application materials. Because eligibility is explicitly tied to admitted international undergraduate applicants, this scholarship is a key funding source for non-domestic students at Duquesne, even though the university notes that full scholarships/complete financial aid are not available to international students overall.
