The Secondary Education concentration in Mathematics at CMU prepares students to teach in both middle and high schools. This program offers small class sizes in the upper-level courses and intimate classroom settings so students can interact closely with faculty. All of the classes are taught by professors or instructors — unlike other universities that use graduate students to teach. When earning a concentration in secondary education, students will learn the professional skills in teaching methods and content necessary for secondary mathematics teachers. Nationally recommended curriculum guidelines are followed in order to ensure that graduates have the mathematical content and conceptual understanding necessary for all secondary school mathematics courses.
