Undergraduate academic requirements

Successful completion of secondary school with a grade-point average of at least 2.8 or the equivalent.

Postgraduate academic requirements

Applications are welcome from holders of a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited university who have completed at least twelve semester credit hours or the equivalent in the history of art with a grade-point average of at least 2.67 or the equivalent. Seminars and courses are conducted in English and thus require proficiency in the English language, both spoken and written. Reading knowledge of Italian, French, or German at the time of entry into the program is strongly recommended.

English proficiency waivers

• Students comes from a native speakers of English country
• Two years of study in a U.S.-accredited, International Baccalaureate, or United Kingdom diploma program where English is the only medium of instruction
• Two years of study in an English-speaking country listed on the U.K. Ministry of Education or in the educational systems of these countries (regardless of location) where English is the only medium of instruction

Entry requirements

The submission of GRE scores is optional, but strongly recommended for postgraduate applicants wishing to be considered for funding.

Documents required

Admission to John Cabot's undergraduate programs is based on a review of the following items:

• Completed application form
• A 600 word personal essay
• Non-refundable application fee
• Official transcripts of all secondary and post-secondary school work to date

  transcripts not in English or Italian must be accompanied by a certified English language translation.

• Evidence of English language Proficiency
• Letter(s) of Recommendation or Teacher Evaluation Form

Admission to John Cabot's postgraduate programs is based on a review of the following items:

• A completed application form
• A personal statement of 600 words detailing your reasons for interest in the program
• A sample (10-15 pages) of your academic writing in English, with footnotes and bibliography
• A CV/Resume
• Official transcripts of all post-secondary (undergraduate and graduate) study undertaken to date. Transcripts not in English or Italian must be accompanied by a certified English translation
• Three letters of reference from professors evaluating your academic work and appropriateness for graduate study
• Evidence of English language proficiency

Funding

All applicants to JCU’s graduate programs will be automatically considered for the following forms of financial assistance (a separate funding application is not required):
