English proficiency scores are not required for admissions, however having a TOEFL score will help assess whether or not ESOL classes may be required prior to our placement test. Other accepted tests are Duolingo and iTEP scores. Scores must be within the last three years.

A Peralta Colleges Foundation award of $500 open specifically to students holding F-1 international student status at the Peralta Community College District colleges, which includes Berkeley City College. Eligible applicants need a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, at least 12 completed units at a Peralta college, at least one remaining semester of enrollment, a completed student education plan showing intent to earn an associate degree, complete a certificate program, or transfer to a four-year university, and a letter of recommendation from Peralta faculty. Because eligibility is explicitly restricted to F-1 international students rather than US citizens or permanent residents, it directly serves international undergraduates studying at Berkeley City College.
