The #YouAreWelcomeHere Award is a scholarship created specifically for incoming international undergraduates. Each fall, Adelphi offers the award to first-time, first-year accepted students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents, explicitly targeting the international undergraduate population. Eligible candidates are identified from the admitted pool and contacted directly by Adelphi with instructions to complete the award application; no separate proactive application is needed to be considered. Because eligibility is restricted to non-U.S.-citizen/non-permanent-resident first-time undergraduates, this award is inherently for international undergraduate students.
Adelphi automatically reviews every undergraduate applicant for a scholarship recommendation once a complete application is submitted, with no separate scholarship application required. Adelphi's own international student aid page states explicitly that "undergraduate international students are eligible for merit, talent and athletic scholarships." Depending on the award category, this can include the High School Achievement, Deans and Presidential Awards (roughly $15,000-$40,000 per year based on academic performance and standardized testing), Talent Combination Awards for exceptional ability in theatre, dance, art, music or communications (roughly $18,500-$43,500 per year, audition/portfolio required), and Athletic Grants of up to full tuition, fees, room and board for students with exceptional athletic ability. Because international undergraduates are explicitly named as eligible for these merit, talent and athletic scholarship categories, they qualify on the same competitive basis as domestic applicants.
