Information Science is an undergraduate programme at Columbia University. Students study a common core of fundamental topics, supplemented by a program of six electives that provides a high degree of flexibility. Three of the electives are chosen from a list of upper-level courses that represent area foundations within computer science. The remaining electives are selected from the complete list of upper-level computer science courses. Students are encouraged to work with their faculty advisor to create a plan tailored to fit their goals and interests. The department webpage provides several example programs for students interested in a variety of specific areas in computer science.

If your native language is not English or your primary high school instruction was not in English, you must submit standardized test scores. Columbia accepts the following exams with typical competitive or minimum benchmarks:
Recommended score of 105 or higher.
Recommended score of 7.5 or higher.
Recommended score of 125–135 or higher.
Minimum score of 191 on C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency
You do not need to submit an English proficiency exam if you meet any of the following conditions:
