What the University of Guelph says about their program:
The Food Science program at the University of Guelph explores the field through its curriculum, practical learning, and related opportunities. How do we build a healthier society through the foods that we eat? Food is a multi-billion dollar industry that is influenced by changing socio-economic conditions and evolving tech. As a Food Science student, students will learn the skills and nuances of the industry to contribute to the food system and be able to work anywhere in the world. Most careers in food don't include a white chef hat. Instead, they use texture analyzers, study food trends and launch innovate food startups. Food scientists fill the gap between the production of farm goods and the delivery of food to the global consumer. They apply chemistry, physics and microbiology to the processing and product development of safe and healthy foods. Simply - food scientists help develop new foods and keep existing foods safe.
