English proficiency waivers

  • Students who are citizens of any of the following expanded list of countries are now exempt from the English proficiency requirement without submitting additional documentation and are eligible for direct admission into a Bachelor's degree program if otherwise qualified.
  • Course equivalency of Miami's English composition requirement at another U.S. institution.
  • Enrollment in AP English Language and Composition or AP English Literature.
  • Enrollment in IB English A at either HL or SL as part of a full IB program.
  • Students whose first language is not English but who have completed three or more years at a US or Canadian high school are exempted from the English proficiency requirement and are now eligible for direct admission into a - Bachelor’s degree program if otherwise qualified.
