Florida Atlantic University’s Commercial Music program offers a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum to help students develop skills for a professional career in the music industry. The CM program offers three concentrations: Music Business, Composition, and Music Technology. All three concentrations are immersed in Hoot/Wisdom Records L.L.C., Florida Atlantic University’s official record label. Administered by the Commercial Music program, the label provides students with practical experience in the production, marketing, and distribution of sound recordings.

The Commercial Music Composition concentration provides majors with skills and experience in composing, arranging, producing and recording music for a variety of applications, including film, television and digital media.

Admission requirements

Undergraduate academic requirements

  • Minimum equivalent GPA of C on a scale of A to F or 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for all transferable courses

    5 out of 10 in Brazil. If there are less than 60 transferable credits, high school transcripts and SAT/ACT scores must be submitted.

  • Must be in good academic standing at your previous institution.
  • Must submit official transcripts from ALL institutions attended.

Postgraduate academic requirements

  • Minimum equivalent GPA of B on a scale of A to F or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Applicant should achieve the Bachillerato Academico or Certificado de Educacion Superior and submit final official transcripts

English proficiency

English proficiency is required; accepted tests include IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent.
