The MS in Accountancy program is a cohort-based, 17-month graduate program. The program prepares students for accounting or auditing positions in public accounting firms, corporations, government agencies or non-profit organizations. It is a high quality rigorous accounting program that provides students the required education to qualify for the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) exam and to meet the 150-hour California CPA licensure requirements. The program focuses on the knowledge of the U.S. and international financial reporting and auditing standards, taxation, business laws and regulations, data analytics in accounting, auditing, and taxation, and accountants’ professional responsibilities . It also enables students to develop professional communication and collaborative teamwork skills.

Undergraduate academic requirements

Non-resident or non-California high school graduates with A-G GPA of 3.0 or greater will qualify without needing additional Campus Admission Category values (i.e., 3.0 GPA X 800 = 2,400 points).

Postgraduate academic requirements

Have the equivalent of a minimum 2.5 GPA. Some graduate departments have higher GPA requirements.
Have the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor's degree. If you were educated outside of the U.S., you must have earned a degree equivalent to a 4-year U.S. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

English proficiency waivers

Undergraduate TOEFL or IELTS can be waived for applicants who meet English proficiency by coursework as follows:

Transferred from a U.S. college with 60 or more semester units with a minimum grade point average of 2.4, and have completed a transfer course in each of the following general education areas with a grade of 2.0 or better
English composition, speech, critical thinking, and mathematics.

Postgraduate

TOEFL or IELTS can be waived for applicants who received a bachelor’s degree or higher from a U.S. college or university, or an international college or university OR demonstrated 3 years of full-time academic study at a post-secondary level in a country where the language of instruction was English as accepted by Cal State East Bay.
