St. Francis College (SFC) is a small, private liberal arts college that has been providing affordable education in Brooklyn, New York, USA for 160 years. The College offers a Franciscan education, and welcomes students from around the city, country, and globe.

With a total enrollment of about 2,600 and an average of 20 students per class, St. Francis College offers 72 undergraduate majors and minors across 19 academic departments. The student body reflects many religious backgrounds, and represents 70 nations.

SFC has a long tradition of nurturing both athletes and scholars. The College’s athletics teams are known as the Terriers, and they compete in 21 NCAA Division I sports. The men’s soccer team has won multiple NEC Championships while men's water polo has 4 NCAA Division I Final Four appearances.

Presidential Scholarship

    US$10,000

  • Requirements

    Every year, incoming international freshmen students with a B average (GPA) or higher applying for our fall semester before February will be invited to enter an essay contest. After completing an essay and an interview, applicants could be chosen as one of four students to receive the Presidential Scholarship, which covers full academic tuition costs

  • Requirements

    Eligibility for consideration requires that students are not US citizens or permanent residents. International students graduating from either a U.S. or Non-U.S. high school are welcome to apply.

Faith Based Scholarship

  • Amount

    US$1,000

  • Requirements

    This type of scholarship is awarded to any high school graduate of a faith-based institution. The scholarship is awarded upon acceptance.

Larkin Luminary Scholarship

  • Amount

    Up to $500

  • Requirements

    Awarded to new full-time students who are children, grandchildren, or siblings of SFC graduates. Renewable for up to four years of study at St. Francis College.

Life at St. Francis College

St. Francis College is currently home to 225 international students coming from 65 different countries.

The main office on the campus in charge of international student's support is called SFC International. This office collaborates with other services to make sure that all international students get access to all the great opportunities the College offers.

They can help you to become a member of one of the 40 clubs and societies on campus, become student worker or assistant in various departments, or earn great internship opportunities at companies like Deloitte, J.P. Morgan and Chase, HSBC and KPMG.

There are loads of other events you can enjoy, including a block party for all students the day before the school starts. Some other important events are celebrations of the clubs and societies, and the sports matches that take place on the campus throughout the year.

Tell us about St. Francis College

It is a small college, but it offers a lot. The atmosphere of the staff and students is very friendly and you really feel like you belong to this place. The campus is located in a very nice neighborhood, which I enjoy a lot. The Brooklyn Heights Promenade provides a great view of the Manhattan’s Financial District. The subway stations are around the corners and multiple trains stop by. There are always lots of activities in campus, not only during the activity period, but all the time. There are more than 40 students’ clubs and organizations where you can find yourself.

It's is hard to describe in a few words but, in short, I would say it's wonderful. As a freshman, nervous and anxious about coming into a new country and place that have never been to before, I felt very welcomed. In my opinion, it is the first impression that decides everything, and I really liked how the staff and students on campus and in the dorms made us feel so welcome and at home. The campus is on one of the most beautiful and amazing sites in New York, not to mention the busy streets. My experience has been very exciting, exciting as a game, to keep trying to win.

    Great Internship and Networking opportunities for all the students at St. Francis College are definitely big reason why to study here. Our international students traditionally land some of the great internships in companies such as KPMG, Bloomberg, Deloitte, American Express, CBS, National Grid, ConEdison, NBC, J.P. Morgan, and many others. Our Alumni Network is built on the success and service and a commitment to making the world more equitable and more hospitable. Our alumni certainly are the pride of our institutions and they are always ready to help generations to come. A smaller student population makes our facilities very welcoming and heart-warming. Students are known by name in every space they enter which is a very unique thing that we at St. Francis College take big pride in. Besides the classrooms and administrative offices, SFC has two gyms (basketball and volleyball) that are accessible for regular students. On top of that, there is a swimming pool on our campus as well as a weightlifting room that students could use. The best thing is the fact that the actual campus is one big building that covers the whole block and has 8 floors. Thus students do not have to walk long distances between the classes since they are only 2-3 minutes away from basically every office or classroom at St. Francis College. Our campus location is less than 20 minutes away from all the prominent tourist locations such as Wall Street, Times Square and Central Park, hence, we love to say that New York City is our campus. There are many great career prospects for international students graduating from St. Francis College, including careers in accounting/CPA, nursing, law, business (investment banking, finance), marketing, media and communications, and many others!
