Study abroad at Marywood University

Established more than 100 years ago, Marywood University is a private Catholic institution committed to the integration of liberal arts and professional studies. The University is set in a 115-acre picturesque campus in the historic city of Scranton, Pennsylvania.

From day one, Marywood prepares students to have a positive impact on both the regional and global society while providing each student with the foundation for success in an interdependent world.

There is a wide variety of study programs available at Marywood, including bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Programs are offered through three colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Health and Human Services, and the College of Professional Studies.

Outside of the classroom, you’ll never be short of things to do at Marywood. There’s an abundance of clubs you can join to meet like-minded people and learn new skills. Sports also play an important part of life on campus, with 22 NCAA Division III teams, as well as dozens of intramural sports you can take part in.

Life at Marywood University

Marywood University is a diverse and welcoming community, with a growing number of international students calling Marywood’s campus home.

The Center for Global Engagement at Marywood University is dedicated to offering international students and scholars a full and rewarding experience as members of the Marywood community.

Staff is available to assist with integrating international students into campus life and to support their welfare and interests while attending the University. All international students take part in a student orientation when they arrive, which is an opportunity to get to know the campus, staff, and meet your fellow students.

English language help is available, and Marywood also offers an Intensive English Program that develops language skills to enable students to enter an undergraduate or graduate degree program.

    Marywood is a Day One university. On the first day of classes in a student's first year, they will be taking classes in their field of study. Classes are taught by professionals who have experience in the field, and our programs offer internship opportunities so students are prepared for their professional futures. Our 12:1 student to faculty ratio allows for a highly personalized education.

    Our International Admissions team and the Center for Global Engagement work together to assist each and every student through the admissions and arrival process. Once students arrive on campus, we offer academic and extra-curricular support to help international students acclimatize to the campus community. Students are well-prepared for their professional endeavors when they study at Marywood University. Through hands-on learning experiences such as undergraduate and graduate research, clinical rotations, internships, and course-related service projects, students gain in-depth knowledge, practical skills, real-world experience - and in the end, a job.
