What is the cost of study in Madrid?

Tuition fees vary in Madrid, and the amount you’ll pay will depend on your University and the course you’ve chosen. You can generally expect to pay between $2,500 - $5,000 a year in fees.

Although the cost of living in Madrid is higher compared to other places in Spain, it’s relatively cheaper in contrast to several other major European capital cities, like London, Paris, or Berlin.

How to study in Madrid

Each University in Madrid has its own application process and acceptance criteria, so it’s important you check the requirements before you apply. Most universities expect students to have completed their secondary education.

You may need to complete a Spanish entrance exam, otherwise known as Selectividad, this will depend on your chosen university and the program you’re applying for.

Once you’ve secured a university place, you can apply for a Spanish student visa. A type D visa will allow you to study and live in Spain. You’ll need your visa before you travel to the country.
