Study abroad at Lincoln University

Originally founded as a School of Agriculture in 1878, Lincoln University (LU) is New Zealand’s third oldest university. Located in the quaint rural town of Lincoln, the university still has a strong focus on farming and agriculture and is the smallest of New Zealand’s eight public universities.

LU delivers a range of mainly agricultural degree programs through three faculties: agribusiness and commerce; agriculture and life sciences; and environment, society, and design. There is also the University Studies and English Language Division, which runs programs aimed at helping students who missed out on their entrance qualifications and students who need to improve their English language skills.

The 58-hectare campus is surrounded by farmland and has a supportive and multicultural atmosphere. There are a wealth of top-of-the-range facilities that all students can enjoy, including modern teaching spaces, IT laboratories, a comprehensive library, a range of eateries, and world-class sports facilities. LU also owns and runs eight South Island farms that give students first-hand experience and facilitate world-leading research.

Sport plays a big role at LU, bringing students and communities together. As well as offering a host of social sports clubs, there are also four major LU sports teams - LU Rugby, Netball, Basketball, and Rowing, who all compete in local Christchurch competitions.
