Al Akhawayn University (AUI) uses an American liberal arts model, meaning you study a variety of disciplines whilst also majoring in a chosen subject. It focuses on program options in humanities, and social sciences, science and engineering, and business administration. Its campus is situated in the town of Ifrane on a modern campus with living and studying facilities for over 2,000 students. The campus sits amidst the beauty of Morocco's Middle Atlas Mountains.

The University aims to support all AUI students with extracurricular learning opportunities as well as recreational and cultural activities with over 50 sports clubs and societies to choose from. AUI also offers counseling services and a student health service. Students participate in a community service program where 60 hours of service with an NGO or charity of your choice must be achieved before graduation.

As an exchange student, the Office of International Programs gave great support for international students and is there to help resolve any concerns or needs. The university is a living, learning space. Students are academically challenged to prepare them for their careers, while also encouraged to build and create community to prepare them to be engaged in their society. Student facilities are well maintained and equipped to meet student needs. From the dormitory, to the cafeteria, to the sports complex, to the library, students can enter these spaces and feel they are getting their needs met.
