What is the cost of study in Hamburg?

Public universities in Hamburg don’t charge tuition fees. However, you may need to pay a small administrative fee which is usually between €100-€400. Private universities can charge up to €40,000 a year in fees.

Hamburg is one of the most expensive cities in Germany. However, it’s cheaper than some other major German locations like Munch and Frankfurt.

How to study in Hamburg

Each university in Hamburg has its own application process, so it’s likely that you’ll need to apply directly to the university of your choice. Make sure you check the entry requirements to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before you apply.

Some universities accept applications through an online portal called uni-assist, which allows you to apply to several universities at once. However, not all institutions accept applications through this platform.

Once you’ve secured a place at your chosen university, you can apply for a German student visa. If you don’t need a visa, you’ll still need a residence permit.
