Tell us about the University of the South Pacific

The first impression of the university I got when we first drove in was this amazing atmosphere of feeling like I was still back in my home country. The people were very friendly that I felt very welcomed. Everyone was very helpful in making sure that we were comfortable and attended to our every need, enquiries and questions. A lot of the facilities are state of the art facilities, and most are under renovations - which speak volumes that there is always improvement taking place to better this prestigious university of the South Pacific region. The school made sure we, the international students, had a tour of the school and the town, as we struggled to familiarize ourselves with adjusting to a new atmosphere and environment. This made my personal transition a very smooth one. The bar is amazing and the food in the cafeteria/ dining halls are very diversed in its cuisines. Everything's affordable for students as they do not take advantage of the range of services they provide to capitalize or profit from them. The accommodation is amazing! I wanted to apply for the flats - which have air-conditioning but it was under renovation so I was put at the Halls of Residence. It still had great ventilation and fans so I definitely didn't need the AC as much as I thought I would. All my classes (tutorials and lectures) are in the main campus so I don't need to travel to the other campuses. However, if students have classes in other campuses, the university has a shuttle bus that does trips back and forth every ten minutes.

USP itself is has very friendly staff who are always helpful regardless of what your problem is - they are always trying to help you out. Whilst the accommodation seems to be a bit too expensive, it is still situated near all facilities you need to ensure your quality of study and social life as equal.
